Rubyfruit Radio is all about playing the best in podsafe female indie artists. I believe that most music on corporate radio sucks and there are a lot of artists out in the world who are not getting the recognition they deserve. About Me

My name is Heather Smith and I'm a 30 something lesbian living in Atlanta with my girl, our dog and our 2 cats. When I'm not podcasting, I work in IT.

While I was in college at Texas Tech University, I stumbled into radio. I got a gig hosting a show once a week from 6am to 9am on the student run station KTXT , I was immediately hooked. I'd always loved music and this seemed like a perfect gig even if it was unpaid. I eventually ended up working in TV but after I moved to Northern Virginia, I fell into IT and that's where I've been for almost a decade. I'd been thinking of ways to get into radio but that's kind of hard when your aircheck tape is 10 years old.

One day, while looking at other people's iTunes, I stumbled upon The Dawn and Drew Show. I had heard of podcasting a long time ago but never listened until then. I started checking out other podcasts and then came across some that were a radio type format. Within a couple of days I had a small stash of podsafe music and was podcasting. The rest as they say is history.
