About
About the Show
Rubyfruit Radio is all about playing the best in female artists. I believe that most music on corporate radio sucks and there are a lot of artists out in the world who are not getting the recognition they deserve. Please support these artists by buying their CDs, going to their shows and spreading the word about the ones you like.
About Me

My name is Heather Smith and I’m a 30 something living in Atlanta. When I’m not podcasting, I work in social media.
While I was in college at Texas Tech University, I stumbled into radio. I got a gig hosting a show once a week from 6am to 9am on the student run station KTXT , I was immediately hooked. I’d always loved music and this seemed like a perfect gig even if it was unpaid. I eventually ended up working in TV but after I moved to Northern Virginia, I fell into IT and that’s what I was doing for over a decade (until we moved to NYC in May 08). I’d been thinking of ways to get into radio but that’s kind of hard when your aircheck tape is 10 years old.
One day, while looking at other people’s iTunes, I stumbled upon The Dawn and Drew Show. I had heard of podcasting a long time ago but never listened until then. I started checking out other podcasts and then came across some that were a radio type format. Within a couple of days I had a small stash of podsafe music and was podcasting. The rest as they say is history.
About the music
To submit your music for play on Rubyfruit Radio, email a link or songs in MP3 format to rubyfruitradio@gmail.com.
Digital format is preferred, but if you really want to send a physical copy, email me for an address. Also know that I will eventually pass the CD on to someone else, either a listener or someone I know who might like it.
I try and play only indie bands, but sometimes I can’t help myself and play things that aren’t. If I post a song in an episode that you want taken down, just email me and I will.
